Birth Name:  Shree Amma Yanger (Sridevi)

She is better known as the 'Hawa Hawai'. Her journey in the showbiz for past 44 years is certainly worth praising. All the way from South Sridevi has come a long way .

Biography:

Sridevi was born to a Tamil speaking South Indian Family in Tamil Nadu. Her father Ayyapan who was a lawyer and mother Rajeswari a home maker. She has a sister and two step brothers.

She started her career at a very early age in 1967 as a child artiste in a Tamil movie 'Kandhan Karunai'. She made her foray on the Bollywood in 1975 with the smash-hit 'Julie' in which she played the younger sister of the lead actress.

Thereafter she has gone on to act in adult roles in over 200 movies, 63 in Hindi; 62 in Telugu; 58 in Tamil; and 21 in Malyalam - in a career that has spanned from 1967 through to 2007.

She has also appeared in the TV series 'Malini Iyer', judged a TV show 'Kaboom' as well as appeared in numerous print and TV ads.

Now she is making her comeback in Bollywood with English Vinglish (2011)

Personal Life:

Sridevi married Boney Kapoor, a film producer and the elder brother of actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, in 1996. They have two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi (Krishna).
