After few years he shifted his interest towards comedy films which worked under his favor.

2006 was a remarkable year in his career as he starred in two of his famous films Golmaal and Omkara. Omkara was a critical and a commercial hit  in which he was cast in the title role and Golmaal was a sleeper hit and which was later followed by two super hit sequels Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3.

He turned director in 2008 with U, Me Aur Hum where he casted his wife Kajol opposite him. The film was an average success.

His latest film Singham (2011) directed by his buddy Rohit Shetty got an outstanding opening all over. The film is considered to be the biggest grosser of the year.

Personal Life:

On February 23, 1999, he married Hindi film actress Kajol. The couple has two children daughter Nysa who was born in April 2003 and son Yug was born in September 2010.

Controversy:

Ajay Devgn was in trouble when he allegedly lighted up in a public place in Chandigarh, a city which is very serious about maintaining the ban on smoking in public places. Eventually, after three days, the Chandigarh police came to the five-star hotel where Ajay was staying along with the other unit members of London Dreams and imposed a fine of Rs 200 on him. Ajay paid up without contesting the case.

In 2007 he was in controversy when a producer named Karan Ramsay of Om Films Company filed the suit against Ajay Devgan, the producer of All the Best, claiming that the script of Ajay’s movie was borrowed from Ramsay’s under-production film named Uncle Samjha Karo without his knowledge. According to Ramsay he got the copyright of the script in November 2006 from a writer named Paritosh Panter. Ramsay revealed that in 2007, Paritosh attempted to reclaim the copyright from him but could not do so as the IMPPA decided the case in Ramsay’s favour.
