"Hello Mr. DJ, Mera Gaana Please Play!"

Hola to our lovely BollyCurry readers! We are back yet again with another edition of Yo Mr. DJ feature and this time our focus is on the trend of rapping in Bollywood songs.

In recent times, there has been much experimentation with the different styles of music in Bollywood and the choices of various music composers has reflected this diversity in the music industry. Ranging from hip-hop to semi-classical, romantic to jazz, the blues to pop, and now remixes and rap, each genre of song and music has been appreciated by fans all over. Music listeners eagerly await the next release by their favourite singers, and play the tracks they love over and over again.

Rap is slowly but surely becoming more prominent in the music industry. There are few rappers in Bollywood, but boy, are they talented! Names such as Hard Kaur and Yo Yo! Honey Singh, along with actors like Abhishek Bachchan and Ranveer Singh are behind the fantastic rap tracks to grace the Bollywood music charts. We at BollyCurry have shortlisted just five of these tracks for you to add to your party playlists.

"Right Here Right Now"- Bluffmaster
'Come to me, bhool jaaye sara jahaan.
Come to me, hum banale apni nayi jagah...'

Abhishek Bachchan made his singing debut with the song "Right Here Right Now" from Bluffmaster in the year 2005. Bachchan Jr. did a wonderful job matching his rapping skills with singer Sunidhi Chauhan's stunning vocals. The movie gave the actor an opportunity to showcase his singing capability, as well showcase the acting talent he got from the legendary Bachchan family. The song did extremely well and remained as a top chartbuster song for quite some time. The song is still one of the favourites of avid rap listeners and party-goers.

"Chaar Botal Vodka"- Ragini MMS 2
'Chaar bottle vodka kaam mera roz ka.
Na mujhko koi roke, na kisi ne roka...'

Punjabi munda Yo Yo! Honey Singh obviously had to grace the list of rappers in this special rap edition of Yo Mr. DJ. It is not much to say that no Bollywood project is now complete without this wonderful singer lending his voice to at least one track in the film. Doubters and nay-sayers are hard pressed to deny that the man is blessed with immense talent when it comes to rap, and can be considered one of the leading rappers in Bollywood today. "Char Botal Vodka" is a hard-hitting track that is enjoyed at parties across various nations.

"Lungi Dance" - Chennai Express
'Moochhon ko thoda round ghumake.
Anna ke jaisa chashma lagake.
Coconut me lassi milake.
Aa jaao sare mood banake...'

Considering the fact that Yo Yo! Honey Singh is one of the few Bollywood rappers who has become the talk of Bollywood with his music, it should not be surprising that another of his songs is on this list "Lungi Dance" had the world going crazy at parties and weddings, with its catchy lyrics and beats. Featuring the one and only Shah Rukh Khan dancing alongside the stunning Deepika Padukone in this ode to Rajnikanth, this song has been played repeatedly and took the audience's heart overnight.

"Laung Ka Lashkara"- Patiala House
'Got the feeling now that makes me wanna move.
If you feel the same then you should do it too...'

Next on our list is Hard Kaur, who we can probably hail as the first female rapper of our country. Singing alongside Mahalakshmi Iyer and Jasbir Jassi, the song paved its way to the top when the movie was released. This is a full on entertainment package with Jugal-Bandi between the Hindi lyrics and the rapping. Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma danced along to the track in the movie, in which Hard Kaur also had a role, playing a wannabe rapper. With an amazing grasp of both Hindi and English, the woman can rap fluently in both, a feat that is stunning to hear.

"Chaar Bajj Gaye" - F.A.L.T.U
'Aaj hai Friday night, main chalun apne friends ke saath,
Random spinning wheels meri boom boom car,
Laga ke CD player hum toh chale hain tayaar.'

Another one of Hard Kaur's hits, and a top favourite of the younger generation, would be "Char Bhajj Gaye". The tagline of the song "Char Bhajj Gaye Lekin Party Abhi Baaki Hai" attracted millions of fans throughout the world before the movie was even released. No surprise then that this song was, and still is, a favourite to keep the party going all night long.

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is also a talented rapper, having lent his skills to advertisements and small screen appearances. Who knows, he may soon grace the music charts as well! In addition to the few songs above are many more such as "Sunny Sunny", "Talli", "Follow Me", "Main Tera Dhadkan Teri" and "Angrezi Beat". These have been playing over and again at parties and dances, as the beat never seizes to get everyone grooving on the dance floor.

Are you a fan of rap songs? If yes, which of them are ruling on your playlist? Let us know and we will be back with another edition of Yo Mr. DJ real soon!
