5 Reasons to Watch Ok Jaanu

A few solid excuses to go watch the movie!

Ok Jaanu is charted to release soon and we're giving you a few solid excuses to go watch the movie-

Here's what we know-
The film is a remake of Mani Ratnam's Tamil hit Ok Kanmani. Revolving around the characters of Tara and Adi, the plot takes on a couple united by chance and the happenings that ensue. It explores mellinial relationships in modern day India and the play of love and similar emotions. That it is a story of a live-in relationship is known, but what about the movie pulls you in? Scroll through our reasons for looking forward to the release of Ok Jaanu-

A comeback for the Aashiqui Couple

We saw what Aditya Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor can do when they get together on screen. They've had quite the success making audiences sigh at the highs and lows of love and passion. Naturally, we are excited to see the two sizzle on screen again. The new poster has the pair drenched in rain; a direct throwback to Aashiqui 2. While the actors coming together isn't new, we are excited to see what they can offer in a more varied set of roles.

Those groovy A.R. Rahman Tunes

The film has already made waves with the release of Humma, a re-vamped version of a classic catchy song. What excites us is the involvement of A. R. Rahman as music composer. With the film's score and soundtracks taken care of, we can gladly look forward to a film backed up by amazing music.

Representation of a taboo topic: Live-in Relationships

The film promises to give us a peek into modern day live-in relationships. In a society that hasn't fully accepted dating in general, we have Karan Johar introducing a step further. Tara and Adi aren't just youngsters who clicked. They get into a no-strings attached deal with no speculations on the long term. We hope to see the film shed light on the subject and open a few minds to top it off!

A hard-to-predict ending

From the trailers we can tell the film is going to be a realistic portrayal. With Bollywood making a shift to the relateable as opposed to masala movies, are we seeing a fresh wave of naturalistic cinema? (looking at Dear Zindagi). It isn't easy to imagine how this one will end. The protagonists have career paths that drive them in different directions- Paris and America. And, they seem bent on keeping their goals at the forefront. How this relationship will wind up is intriguing! Is it possible to fall and stay in love when parting is imminent?

A chance for Aditya and Shraddha to redeem themselves

In their last venture Aditya and Shraddha's characters were bound by common goals, but this film features characters who independently have big dreams that do not collide. This time around we are curious to see how well they take on roles that seem more carefree and individualistic rather than dependent. The two actors' acting record seemed to have spiraled downwards after their stint with Aashiqui2. Sharddha Kapoor went on to star in Rock On 2 which wasn't exactly a career highlight and Aditya Kapur hasn't had much of a hit since his debut. This gives them the chance to redeem themselves as they face an eager audience.
