It's that day of the year once again, when BollyCurry gathers its readers to celebrate the birth of a well-known dancer, model, VJ and television presenter, Malaika Arora Khan.
Malaika was born on 23rd October 1973 to a
Punjabi father Anil Arora and Malayali-Catholic mother Joyce Polycarp, at
Chembur, Mumbai. She completed her schooling at Swami Vivekanand School and
graduated from Jai Hind College, Churchgate. She is now happily married to
actor-producer-director Arbaaz Khan and they also have a son, Arhaan.
Malaika was selected as a VJ when MTV India was launched. She was soon seen as an interviewer and co-anchor of Love Line and Style Check alongside Cyrus Brocha. Proceeding from this, the leggy lass then stepped into the modeling world and appeared in various advertisements, music, videos and items songs including "Chaiya Chaiya" from Dil Se (1998) alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Khan struck gold in 2010, when she did an item number for her husband's home production, Dabangg (2010). The song "Munni Badnaam Hui" was extremely well received and thereafter Malaika went on to be one of the most sought performer for events and item numbers.
Being a marvelous dancer she is, has also given her the opportunity to judge dance reality shows such as Nach Baliye (Season 1 and 2), Zara Nachke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Malaika currently judges India's Got Talent alongside star director-producer Karan Johar and veteran actress Kirron Kher. Khan performed live along with the Happy New Year cast for SLAM!, in various parts of North America and the United Kingdom. Malaika is also going to be seen doing a cameo in Happy New Year (2014) as well as an item number for Dolly Ki Doli (2015).
