When it comes to commitment, youngsters have pretty much preferred to shirk - and not be shackled to - the tangles of relationships. The youth of today prefer their freedom over responsibilities of commitment as the general belief is that life of a bachelor is life with freedom and fun! Bollywood movies have also been quick to capitalize on the thoughts and ideologies of the youth and through time, there have been plenty of movies that portray the lives and times of bachelors. BollyCurry brings to you some of these movies which have found a special place in the heart of the youth today.

The 2008 romantic comedy, Dostana, which revolves heavily around friendship and also on love, was loved and appreciated by the audiences so much that it went on to become the eighth highest grossing movie at the box office. Kunal and Sameer become friends while on the hunt for an apartment. They both like the same apartment but to get it is no easy feat as they have to masquerade as gays! They eventually succeed and become flatmates and coincidentally also fall in love with the landlady's daughter! What follows next is a tale of love, hate, deception, betrayal and break-up but all with a comic twist to it, and at the end of it all, a happy ever after because of course, it's Bollywood!

Next on is again a 2008 romantic comedy, the very adored, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na which was an undisputed super hit. A story about best friends-turned-lovers, Jaane Tu... explores themes of friendship, love and insecurity making it a flirty and light entertaining watch. Jai and Aditi are best friends who know each other in and out to the extent that they are perfect for each other. Everyone except themselves can see this and it takes a whole lot of ups and downs, fights, break-ups and insecurities for the two of them to realize their love for each other. The journey from friends to lovers is a heartwarming one peppered with comedy.

Aisha.png" alt="" align="right" width="100" height="100" vspace="5" hspace="5" />Cupid Aisha, the 2010 romantic comedy, is next on the list. Aisha is based on the British classic, Emma, by Jane Austen. Aisha believes she has a talent for matchmaking and so is always on the watch out for a chance to play Cupid to quickly match her friends with those she considers suitable for each other. However, after a couple of failed attempts and almost-lost friendships, she realizes that match-making is not her cup of tea and decides to give it up. She falls in love with Arjun, her neighbor and all-time critic but does not confess it. The film ends on a happy note with Arjun proposing her and the two ending up together.

Road trips are fun, exciting and full of adventure and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is all that and much more! It is a story of three friends who are inseparable since childhood who set out on a three-week long bachelor trip to Spain. All three friends also have their own motives for the trip that are more grounded issues in their lives. The movie explores various situations of the friends and the impact that each left on the person. With a glittering cast and a touching story, the movie is full of messages that make you think. The use of symbolism is very apt and beautifully depicted as well.

Cocktail is a story of the classic love triangle with wild Veronica, meek Meera and playboy Gautam forming the main trio of the plot. Veronica and Meera become friends in the beginning of the story when Meera is going through a tough time in her life happens upon Veronica. Veronica and Gautam share a 'no-strings attached' relationship and continue to be friends. The trio share the same house and as their friendship deepens, so do other feelings. When Gautam's mother comes to visit him, that is when things get complicated. Gautam pretends to be dating Meera before his mother while he continues to date Veronica. What ensues tears their friendship and relationships apart until all three go their separate ways. But fate has its own card to play and soon all of them are brought together. The movie ends on a happy note with Gautam marrying Meera.

The last on our list is the most recent buddy film, Kai Po Che, based on author Chetan Bhagat's novel, The Three Mistakes of My Life. The story revolves around three friends who aspire to start their own sports shop and academy. The film explores their friendship as it evolves and deepens and goes through the trials of disaster and communal violence ultimately resulting in the death of one of the trio. The movie is a touching one and has a deep message for the audience. Kai Po Che was the first movie to feature in the World Panorama section of the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival.

With this tiny list, we're only scratching the surface. You go ahead and tell us which is your favorite bachelor flick of all times and we'll see you next time.

"Dil Chahta Hai" tops the list of such movies.
"Salaam Namaste" was also a good movie on live-in relationship.
"Rang De Basanti" also emphasized more on friends and thoughts of youth than lovestory
