Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar took home the top honors at the FICCI Frames Awards which recently took place in Mumbai. The film swept the categories of best actor (Ranbir), best director (Imtiaz Ali), best music director (A.R. Rahman), and best singer - male (Mohit Chauhan) at the event.

Along with Ranbir, Vidya Balan also continued her winning streak, earning the best actress award for her alternately heart-stopping and heartbreaking portrayal of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture.

Usha Uthup and Rekha Bhardwaj shared the title of best singer - female for their rendition of "Darling" in 7 Khoon Maaf.

Zoya Akhtar's refreshing 'buddy' flick Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was crowned best film at the ceremony.

Newcomers who walked away with accolades that night included Parineeti Chopra for her fiery role in Ladies vs. Ricky Behl, Vidyut Jamwal for his villainous role in Force, and Abhinay Deo for his directorial venture Delhi Belly.

The living legend Amitabh Bachchan was recognized for his widespread impact among and beyond the Hindi film fraternity.

The FICCI Frames events, which took place from March 14 through 16, concluded with the award function yesterday.

Rockstar was pathbreaking in certain ways - despite all the criticism it received (some of which was fair, but much exaggerated) but most of all Ranbir Kapoor set up entirely new standards for his ownself post this one. As for the concept of the movie - FANTASTIC! It could have been executed in a more crisp manner (editing wise especially) and hey, a female lead who could actually act - but it was still a start of a genre of its own kind. Kudos to that, and congratulations to the team for its awards! [As long as no one gives any credit for anything of phenomenon in this movie to Fakhri - I'm with them on their page!]

Shouldn't there just be 1 or 2 award functions a year? We get something like 10 award functions with the same people winning the awards.

I say we keep IIFA Awards and Filmfare Awards and ditch the rest.
