There's been plenty of buzz about the much awaited Race sequel ever since it was confirmed, start of this year. And with the lead cast being finalised, the action thriller has finally hit the floors!
For the second outing of Abbas-Mustan's super-hit suspense flick, only Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor have been retained from the original. Replacing Akshay Khanna is John Abraham, who will step into the villain limelight for the first time after his thrilling success as the bad bike guy in Dhoom">Dhoom.
Also, whilst the original glamour was provided by Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika Paudukone will be replacing them this time round. Meanwhile Ameesha Patel has also been confirmed as a new addition to the cast to star opposite Anil Kapoor (who originally provided some comic moments with Sameera Reddy).
Undeniably, this is a huge opportunity for Ameesha whose last Bollywood flick was the easily forgettable Bhool Bhulaiyaa (not to mention her "Lazy Lamhe" stint for Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic). Previous names linked to the role include Kareena Kapoor, Chitrangada Singh and Mallika Sherawat.
With the cast already days into their shooting schedules and the movie slated for a Diwali release next year, here's hoping the Race sequel can match the success of its predecessor.
