With her age-old beauty (no pun intended) and dancing prowess, it seems like Vidya Balan is made to fit into period flick Urmi.

Directed by Santosh Sivan, the actress was approached to perform a number for the movie in the traditional South Indian dance style, Mohiniattam, choreographed by dance director Ulhas. Apparently Sivan was so impressed with her work, that he ended up roping her in for an extended part in the 15th Century movie based on the story of Vasco Da Gama's death.

Apart from Genelia D'Souza and Prabhudeva playing protagonists, Vidya is accompanied by many more names in the cast who are part of the movie, including Tabu, who promises to inspire awe in a dance sequence choreographed by Ahmed Khan.

The ensemble of cast already seems promising, and a well made period film is sure something that can do Hindi cinema much good!

I heard Vidya is a very lousy dancer actually and she made quite a fool of herself at an award function....!! And since then no one approaches her to dance in awards...

They were apparently thinking that she dances like she dances in Bhul Bhulaiyaa....but that was just a trick of retakes...!!
