India was made the 'guest country' for the 66th Cannes Film Festival, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the nation's film industry. As such, familiar faces from Bollywood were rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. More importantly, they were leaving quite the fashionable impression on the world. Here's, BollyCurry with a review of the dresses three of our B-Town Celebrities wore.

Vidya Balan, who was a part of the nine-member jury alongside the likes of Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman and Ang Lee, stuck to her roots, choosing to go traditional at every event. Her Sabyasachi lehnga at her first appearance was a dark red high neck choliand black dupatta, paired with jhumkas and a simple black bindi. Her hair pulled back into a tight bun, Vidya looked simply elegant.

The photocall before the opening ceremony saw Vidya in an off-white saree with a golden border and a black full sleeved net embroidered blouse, also by Sabyasachi. The actress accessorised with pearls of a dark grayish colour and large earrings. Once again, her hair was pulled back into a tight bun. A sweet smile on her face and she was picture perfect. We're not too sure about the watch and the jade ring on her index finger, but we'll let it slide.

She changed once more for the opening ceremony, proving that desi is the way to go. Her Sabyasachi lehnga was the on-trend monochrome and embroidered in cream and black. The pretty lace dupatta draped as a pallu over her head, bindi and heavy gold and diamond necklace as accessories might have not suited anybody else, but Vidya made it work. A large smile and a Namaste on her lips, and Vidya left nobody in doubt of her nationality.

Sonam Kapoor also opted for traditional at the opening ceremony of the Film Festival, with her own twist, of course. Her old-world white and gold saree by Anamika Khanna was elegant and framed her statuesque figure well. The trailing baroque-effect jacket in gold on top of the lace suited her form. Minimally accessorised - just one over-sized nose ring - and a classically made-up face of winged eyeliner and deep red lips made for one very gorgeous picture.

The next day saw the actress in a voluminous floral Dolce & Gabbana gown, proving to the world once again why she is a fashion favorite. The drama of the over-sized flower motifs, strapless bodice and large skirt might have overwhelmed someone else, but not Sonam. She opted for simple side-swept hair, a Sunita Kapoor necklace and a pretty smile, and was high-impact on a red carpet populated with other fashion stars.

Considering some of Mallika Sherawat's controversial fashion choices in the past, seeing her rock the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival in a gold beaded Emilio Pucci gown was a welcome surprise. The elegant fitted gown was highlighted by a flowing dragon across its entire length. A small gold clutch in hand, simple gold heels peeking out from under the long skirt and elegant small gold earrings made for a looker. Her hair was pulled back into a bun, and her make-up was kept subtle except for bright red lips.

Her next outfit, on the red carpet for the Inside Llewyn Davis premiere, was a strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown in black and white. Her full-skirted lace outfit may be a familiar look for D&G, but Mallika looked amazing. A simple, barely seen necklace, small studs and open curls showed elegance and poise. No wonder the crowd seemed to love her.

Hmm I would go for Sonam. Both her outfits r nice but the nose ring was unecessary. Vidya could have done better. It looks too outdated. Mallika is meh
