Of all the elements that go into making works of cinema immortal, dialogues hold a significant spot. How many times have you resorted to using an evergreen liner by an old favorite? How many times have you watched your favorite movie over and over never tiring of those forever famous dialogues?

BollyCurry decided to bring for its readers a collection of some of our own favorites from the best! And in consideration of those who are no Hindi speaking veterans, we provide translations!

Love lasts for a lifetime. The film Mohabattein, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan, along with an ensemble of six younger artists, has a wonderful set of quotes. Love has found countless definitions in countless sources, here's how it becomes defined the Yash Raj way!

"Pyaar zindagi ki tarah hota hai. Jiska har morr aasan nahi hota, har raste per khushi nahi milti. Per jab hum zindagi ka saath nahin chorte, toh hum pyaar karna kyon chorein..."

["Love is like life. Every turn is not easy, every way doesn't end up in happiness. But when we don't leave life then why should we stop loving"]

"Koi pyar kare toh tumse kare
Tum jaise ho waise kare..
Aur koi tumhe badal kar pyar kare, woh pyar nahi sauda hota hai...
aur pyar mein sauda nahi hota"

["If someone gets into love then they must love you
they must love you for the way you are
If someone loves you by changing you, then that's not love but compromise.
And compromise is not done in love"]

is a film that no one can ever forget; either version of it equally hit, and hopefully the promising sequel to come sometime soon shall be no less. But what is that one line you can't help but be reminded of, every time this thriller plot is mentioned? If you made a guess, we bet its right!

Don ka intezaar toh gyarah mulko ki police kar rahi hai Sonia. Lekin itna jan lo ki Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, na mumkin hai"

["Don is wanted by police men of 11 countries Sonia. But Don is not just difficult to catch but impossible"]

If you grew up as a Bolly-goer in the 90's, you came to understand the potential of movies with the rebirth concept since Karan Arjun times. We talk of here however, a more recent venture on the same theme, namely Om Shanti Om.

"Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho toh puri qayanat ussey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai."

["If u love something whole heatedly then the whole universe conspires to bring it to you."]

Here's the winning secret from SRK's early years blockbuster, Baazigar :

"Kabhi kabhi kuch jeetne ke liye kuch haarna parta pai. Aur haar ke jeetne wale ko baazigar kehte hain"

["Sometimes, for gaining something we have to loose something else. And the person who fails to attain his ultimate win is called Baazigar."]

Namaste London was a love story that stood apart from many among its genre. Here's a famous line from the same.

"Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki, mit jaave jad yaara jid apnaan di."

["What's the identification of love?
When you are no longer obsessed with the feeling to possess it."]

The classic romantic movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge which has set new milestones for many in the Hindi cinema, who came to be associated with it, is impossible to miss in this collection.

"Senorita, aise bade bade deshon mein aisi chotti chotti baatein to hoti rehti hain!"

[Senorita small small things like these keep happening in big big countries like this.]

Sholay can easily be termed a phenomenon on its own, in Bollywod film making history. Immortal are its many dialogues, and never has an ardent Sholay fan missed a chance to re-quote them. Here come a couple.

"In kutton ke saamne mat naachna Basanti!"
[Basanti don't dance in front of these dogs (used as an abusive word)]

"Ye haath muje de de Thakur...!"
[Thakur give me these hands]

If invisibility ever became so romantic, it was in the life and world of Mr. India! Sridevi and Anil Kapoor gave a unique and wonderful entertainer to their vast audience, but the one we remember even more, is the evil guy!

"Mogambo khush hua!"
[Mogambo is happy]

Friendship is love, and love is friendship - the underlying mantra to Karan Johar's popular love triangle in  Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Here's King Khan preaching yet another love philosophy, in yet another loving avatar!

"Hum ek baar jite hain, ek baar marte hain, shaadi bhi ek baar hoti hai, aur pyar....ek hi baar hota hai."

[We live only once, we die only once, we marry once and we fall in love only once"]

Big B is a demi god for his many, many fans world over. There can be no missing his unforgettable lines! This one is comes from Deewar.

"Mere paas maa hai! "
[I have a mother!]

Dil Chahta Hai at the turn of a millennium gave Hindi cinema a fresh makeover, and cine-goers a fresh unprecedented entertainer! Wit took dominance, and melodrama was mellowed down, Farhan Akhtar breathed a fresh life into the phenomenon called Bollywood, especially for the fast changing Gen-X!

"Tum kahan jaa rahi ho? -
Yeh flight Sydney jaa rahi hai. -
Haan, magar tum kahan jaa rahi ho? -
Sydney! -
Kamaal hai! Hum teeno Sydney jaa rahe hain! -
Teeno? -
Haan, tum, main, aur yeh flight!"

[Where are you going?-
This flight is going to Sydney-
Yes, but where are 'you' going?-
Amazing! All three of us are going to Sydney-
Yeh, you me and this flight!]

Kal Ho Na Ho is a sad romantic tale, that deals with life, love, and death. Here's one candid take from the movie.

"Aaj ek hassi aur baant loon...Aaj ek Dua aur mang loon...Aaj ek aansoo aur pee loon...Aaj ek Zindagi aur ji loon...Aaj ek Sapna aur dekh loon.Kya pata, Kal Ho Naa Ho!"

[I shall share another laugh today. Say another prayer today. Drink in another tear today. Live another life today. See another dream today. . Who knows? There may be no tomorrow!]

Last but not least we have an unforgettable dialogue from the angst-filled love story in the time of terror, namely Fanaa.

"Tere dil mein meri saanson ko panaah mil jaaye.
Tere ishq mein meri jaan fanaa ho jaaye."

[Let my breath get a shelter in your heart. May my life find eternity in your love]

That's to highlight but a few from among countless many in the decades of excellence and deliverance from Bollywood. Enjoyed the journey down the memory lane? Let us know, and we may just come back with another installment!
