Lets Play Holi in Bolly Ish-tyle !!

Bura na mano... holi hai!

Holi, dear readers, is finally arriving to mark our lives with a myriad of colors yet again. And amongst all the dhoom dhadaka preparation we believe each of you must be indulging in, Bolly Curry says it remains incomplete without the filmi tunes.

From time to time, tinsel town and their countless movies have relied on holi - in bringing together mutually attracted couples, in resolving differences between estranged lovers, even witnessing some real action (remember Sholay?) ...

It becomes obligatory then, for us, to reminisce the timeless collection of Bollywood's holi melodies on this special occasion!

1. Holi ke din Dil Mil Jaate Hai...( Sholay )

Holi kab hai? Kab hai holi... kab?! A glimpse of this colorful scene from Sholay brings to mind Basanti and Veeru's cheerful on screen romance between the real life jodi, Hema Malini and Dharam paaji...  but who can forget the immortal Gabbar Singh and his impatient wait of the festival! A wonderful track, that ends in some hard core hindi movie action scenes!

2. Dekho Aayi Holi...( Mangal Pandey )

One among the recent Bollywood holi featuring songs, which portrayed nonetheless, te celebration of this colorful festival in pre-independence India. Casting Rani Mukherjee and Aamir Khan.

3. Rang Barse...( Silsila )

From bachpan to pachpan kinda song, its an evergreen track  - one that brings to mind all the mischief involved with the celebration of this festival. The chuppa chuppi, nok-jhok, ikraar-izhaar - these and many other nuances of romance that the Indian audiences via Bollywood have come to associate with the festival of colors!

It is that one day of the year when getting high on the notoriously prepared bhaang  and flirting abashedly is all to be taken in good spirit! Rang Barse  in its depiction of love between illicit lovers is fun filled song that you just can not hum!

Featuring the scintillating jodi, Amitabh & Rekha, Jaya Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar.

4. Holi Khele Raghuveera...(Bhagban)

Amitabh Bachchan & Hema Malini made a grand come-back to the big screen with Baghban, and this high spirited holi track, sung in part by Big B himself in his typical UP vocal leaves one thoroughly entertained.

5. Mohe Chedo Naa...( Lamhe )

91's critically acclaimed cult classic Lamhe is till date among YRF's best productions. The movie had Sridevi perform a double role, as mother and daughter. This melodious holi number shot in Rajasthani style is colorful and traditional - a heartening song!

6. Ang Se Ang Lagana...( Darr )

For someone who has brought to life numserous characters which will remain immortal names in the hindi cinema, Shah Rukh Khan's eerie obsessive lover chanting of k-k-k-k-Kiran is among the most unique villainous portrayals.

This song, although not as lasting a tune as jaadu teri nazar, is nonetheless a befitting number to list in the collecton of Holi songs!

Featuring the King Khan and the ever charming Juhi Chawla with Sunny paaji...

7. Saat Rang me khel rahi hai...( Aakhir Kyon )

Not a dancing beat but a soft romantic melody which can instill the festive spriit and evoke uninhibited love.

Featuring Rakesh Roshan & Smita Patil, a pleasant track, even though it wasn't among the ageless chart busters as such.

8. Aaj Na Chodenge Hum...( Kati Patang )

A meaningful track for those who're heart broken or lonely this Holi season. The lyrics are filled with love amiss, yet talks of the exception Holi brings to the sad scenarios.

Featuring Rajesh Khanna & Asha Parekh

9. Holi Aayi Re Kanhayi...( Mother India )

Coming from a movie which made history by becoming the first ever Bollywood nomination in the Oscars in the category of Best Film (Foreign).  This song touches a chord with the lower strata of the society which is primarily depicted in the movie. Especially, the rural agriculture folks.
Featuring real life couple Nargis and Sunil Dutt as mother and son, and Rajendra Kumar.

10. Do Me a Favour Lets Play Holi...( Waqt )

A must-mast holi Song with some electrifying beats.

Featuring action man Akshay & Priyanka Chopra.
