Actress Swati Reddy a.k.a. "Colours" Swati loves to work with young team because she feels youngsters are more focused and don't have ego hassles. In fact, her forthcoming Telugu crime-comedy "Swamy Ra Ra" features three newcomers.
"Most of my films have been with debutant directors or with those who are one or two-film old. I always look forward to working with a young team because they're highly focused and don't have room for ego. More importantly, they strive to prove themselves," Swati told IANS.
"If I were to put it in one line, then I would say that I love to work with people who want to work with me," added the actress who had earlier teamed up with M. Sasikumar for his directorial debut "Subramaniapuram" and also featured in Sripathi Rangasamy's first directorial venture "Kanimozhi".
Swati's forthcoming Telugu crime-comedy "Swamy Ra Ra" has three newcomers - director Sudhir Varma, composer Sunny M.R. and cinematographer Richard Prasad - attached to it.
Expected to hit screens by month end, the film also features Nikhil Siddharth, Ravi Babu, Pooja Ramachandran, Jeeva and Praveen.
"I just couldn't decline the offer when Sudhir (director) approached me for the film. Besides the plot, which I liked the most, one of the reasons I couldn't say no was he was very genuine and keeps his feet on the ground. He expressed immense passion in the project," said Swati.
"Swamy Ra Ra", as Swati puts it, is a situational comedy.
"The title may appear obscurely wacky, but the film is not. It's about a chase for a precious idol, in which I get accidentally pulled in. All characters are running after the idol, and this paves way to the kind of comedy that is completely situational," she said.
Quizzed about working with Nikhil, she said: "He is the kind of actor you don't have any issues with. He minds his own business and is very professional. Of course, he's funny off the sets and extremely dedicated on the sets."
While Swati's part was shot in Hyderabad, the rest of crew travelled to places in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The film was completed in about 45 days.
In "Swamy Ra Ra", she plays a character named after her own name and adds it was not easy.
"It was challenging because I had to doll up and wear pretty skirts, something I've never done before. All my roles in the past have been lively. But here I play a very naive type of a girl. I had to come out of my comfort zone and mellow down to play the character," she explained.
Besides acting, Swati has crooned a song in the film.
However, she likes acting more than singing.
"I started singing because of Ram Gopal Varmaji. He convinced me to sing in his Telugu film 'KSD Appalaraju'. After that I sang in another Telugu film '100% Love' on the request of composer Devi Sri Prasad," she said.
"I love acting more than singing, but I humbly obliged these people's requests because they believed in me," she added.
