Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Wednesday came out in support of filmmaker Kamal Haasan, saying all have "freedom of expression".
"We are a free society. There is freedom of expression. There is liberty for artists. We have a constitution," Shinde said, in response to a question on the ban on Kamal's movie "Vishwaroopam".
"We will see. We will inquire into what has happened," he said.
"Vishwaroopam" was due to release Jan 25, but the Tamil Nadu government banned it following objections from certain Muslim groups, who claimed the film portrayed their community in a bad light. Apart from Tamil Nadu, the film was banned in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.
The Madras High Court bench chaired by Justice K. Venkataraman Tuesday passed an interim order in favour of the film and kept the orders issued by the district collector in abeyance.
However, on Wednesday a two-judge bench of the Madras High Court set aside the single judge order and re-imposed the ban on "Vishwaroopam".
As a result, theatres cannot screen the film anywhere in Tamil Nadu.
Kamal said he would go to the Supreme Court against the order.
The film was also banned in Malaysia and Sri Lanka after running in theatres for two days.

Sorry @Baki. Muslims don't have a problem with EVERYTHING, Everyone else has a problem with Islam/Muslims. Why is always terrorism associated or even linked with Islam/ Muslims? Why is it now whenever anyone says the word terrorism they instantly think Muslim? It's media and movies like these that influence the world to think this. And if you going to reply it's becuase of the 9/11 attack well listen to this. If one person of group does something bad, does it mean everyone in that group is bad? If that's true why aren't ALL Christians thought of as the KKK? Why not!? Why isn't there loads of movies relating Christians to KKK in movies or media? I'm not attacking them at all. I'm just putting this in another perspective.
Of course this shouldn't happen becuase movies and media like this stereotype. But then why do it with Islam? Why specifically Muslims?

I feel so sorry for Hassan. He had worked really hard for this movie, and muslim thinks they are showing their freedom, but they are becoming a big issue for the whole world by being harsh. Everything has a bad side, and we hear alot of this kind of stories in reality, so what's wrong in showing it in movies?? It's always muslims, who have an issue with everything!!
