Mumbai, Aug 10 (IANS) Top digital cinema firm UFO Moviez and the famed R.K. Films have joined hands to release some blockbusters from the R.K. stables like 'Bobby', 'Satyam Shivam Sundram' and 'Heena' in wide digital screen format.
Said R.K. Films chief and actor Randhir Kapoor: 'We are constantly being approached by various single-screen theatres and multiplexes with the request to screen our films. We possess these films in analogue prints, which has limited shelf life and whose print quality deteriorates with the passage of time with repeated screenings. We though it was appropriate to have them released in the digital format.'
Kapoor said he was happy to partner with UFO Moviez in the effort to preserve the all-time great films.
'It is a sheer pleasure and joy to make classics available to discerning audiences in a good format. This is the first step and we will continue this effort for the entire library of R.K. Films,' Kapoor said.
Pankaj Jaysinh of UFO Moviez sees the partnership as an honour for them.
'We feel like we are playing a part in preserving the history of Indian cinema by maintaining these beautiful classics for the future generation,' he said.
'Raj Kapoor has numerous fans and the movies and songs cut across all generations and classes of audiences. And it is a pleasure to play a part in the screening of his timeless classics.'
