Mumbai, Sep 13 (IANS) Many leading directors from Subhash Ghai to Rakesh Roshan have decided to let other directors make films for them. And the latest to join the list is director duo Abbas-Mustan.
Abbas-Mustan, who have so far directed films for outside producers, have now turned producers with the Tamil version of Nishikant Kamath's 'Dombivali Fast'.
'And he has done such a brilliant job. We've now decided to remake the film in Hindi with the same director. It has to be the same director, since no other director can translate the vision the same way,' said Abbas.
'In fact, the Tamil version of Nishikant's film is better than the Marathi. We we're sure the Hindi version will be even better,' he added.
While the Tamil version stars R. Madhavan as an ordinary man struggling to keep his sanity, the Hindi version is yet to be cast.
'We may cast a big star or an unknown face. We now intend to produce many more films. We'll soon be announcing five-six films with new and established directors.'
Commenting on the director's new roles, Prakash Jha said: 'Its very simple logistics. I can personally make one film a year. What does my office staff, and infrastructure do the rest of the year?'
Jha has directors like Sudhir Mishra and Nana Patekar on his pay roll.
