Bengali actor Pijush Ganguly dies

Popular Bengali actor Pijush Ganguly, who met with an accident recently, died at a city hospital on Sunday, doctors said. He is survived by his wife and son.


Popular Bengali actor Pijush Ganguly, who met with an accident recently, died at a city hospital on Sunday, doctors said. He is survived by his wife and son.

Ganguly was rushed to the Belle Vue Clinic with multiple injuries after his car collided head-on with a bus in Howrah on October 20.

He died of multiple organ failure in the early Sunday," said a doctor.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock at Ganguly's demise.

"Shocked and saddened that actor Pijush Ganguly died. He was close to us and very talented. My condolences to his family," said Banerjee.

"The doctors tried everything they could. But unfortunately they could not save him. Since yesterday (Saturday) his condition was critical," said city mayor Sovon Chatterjee who rushed to the hospital early in the morning

Ganguly acted in several critically-acclaimed movies including Aparna Sen-directed "Goynar Baksho" and Srijit Mukherjee's "Autograph".
