Chennai, Aug 26 (IANS) Actor Rambha Tuesday denied rumours of an attempted suicide after being discharged from an overnight stay in a private nursing home.

'I was uneasy after food poisoning and was kept in hospital for observation. Some mischievous elements spread a canard that I attempted suicide with ulterior motives,' Rambha said.

'I am attached to my family and a happy-go-lucky person. My co-stars, producers and fans telephoned from all over the country, demanding I disclosed the identity of the imaginary man who is supposed to have jilted me to force him to marry me,' a cheerful looking Rambha said at her southwest suburb residence here.

Born Amritha on June 5 1976, the actress changed her name to Rambha and has acted in over 100 movies in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Bhojpuri.

She has an uncanny resemblance to late actress Divya Bharti who committed suicide in the '80s.
