Veteran Telugu comedian M.S. Narayana breathed his last Friday at a private hospital here due to kidney-related ailments. He was 63.

Narayana was undergoing treatment at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

"We've lost another great actor. He showed signs of improvement yesterday (Thursday) but doctors said he was critical," producer C. Kalyan told IANS.

Although Narayana's family claims he was admitted due to malaria, tests revealed that he had kidney-related issues. On Thursday, doctors at KIMS performed dialysis on Narayana, who was later put on ventilator support.

Narayana, who has over 750 films to his credit, started his career as a writer. Some of his best films include "Indra", "Sontam", "Dookudu" and "Shivamani".

He had penned dialogues for films such as "Alexander" and had also directed "Bhajantrilu" and "Koduku".

He is survived by his wife, daughter and son.
