Mumbai, June 13 (IANS) The going has been tough for Rani Mukerji. Getting her new house constructed proved to be the biggest challenge for the talented actress.
'It was like working simultaneously in Yash Chopra, Sanjay Bhansali and Karan Johar films. I was going mad,' Rani, who is gearing up for her next release 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic', told a friend.
She had set a deadline for the home to be completed. 'It had to be done before her next film for Yash Raj Films started. And she had to meet the deadline somehow,' the friend told IANS.
She starts shooting with Shahid Kapur for her new Yash Raj film from June 18.
To compound her construction woes, Rani recently fell on the steps of her new home and hurt herself.
The friend explained: 'Her thumb was badly hurt. For weeks she had to undergo physiotherapy. But before it could heal completely, she plunged into cricket practice for her new film with Yash Raj where she plays a cricketer.
'So the thumb hasn't had a chance to heal properly. She has been going through a series of misadventures and that's why she has been keeping out of the limelight. Earlier, Rani got her office ready a year and a half ago. Now her home is finally ready.'
'In fact, Rani and her family moved into the dream house while the construction was on. So Rani has been living with the heat, dust and hurt thumb for months.'
The house has been opened to close friends like Karan Johar and Bhansali. On Saturday, the workers and designers packed their gear and left and Rani finally heaved a sigh of relief.
Says a source close to Rani: 'She's so relieved. It has been an ordeal for Rani because she couldn't do anything else until the house was ready. But now when she sees how happy the house has made her family, she feels all the effort has been worth it.'
