The 16th Lok Sabha elections are underway and actresses like Jennifer Winget and Deepika Singh sat that once the new government comes to power, it should work towards education for all, security for women and eradication of child labour.
Here is what they have to say:
Jennifer Winget (Kumud from 'Saraswatichandra'): Education is the country's greatest leveler and its redemption. It's the best investment we can make in our youth and future. So, it's obvious that the priority of the next government should be to increase the literacy rate so that youth can afford a better standard of living. A lot of students from small towns have to shed the comforts of their homes to seek quality education outside I believe whichever government comes to power, ensuring access to good quality education across the country should be its primary agenda.
Deepika Singh (Sandhya from 'Diya Aur Baati Hum': More often than not a woman now-a-days steps out of her home in fear that something unfortunate will happen to her, and even if it does, instead of receiving support from the authorities, she is subjected to more trauma. What this nation desperately needs is to impose more stringent laws and action for crimes against women and to create a clean and caring system, one such initiative is the 'One Stop Rape Crisis Center'. Whichever government comes to power should make sure that women feel safe and secure in their own country.
Neelu Vaghela (Bhabho from 'Diya Aur Baati Hum'): I think shortage of power is a major concern across a vast landmass of our country. An emerging economy like ours needs to have the basic amenities like electricity availability across all villages, towns and cities for all of its industry to be competent and prosper. It's a letdown that even in the 21st century some of our major cities suffer power cuts, which last for hours. I think fulfilling India's energy needs is of vital importance.
Manasi Savli (Avantika from 'Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara'): Having robust infrastructure is the need of the hour. There is no dearth of hard working and talented professionals in India. The government needs to reward citizens with good infrastructure like providing hygienic sanitation facilities for women in public places is equally important.
Disha Parmar (Pankhuri from 'Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara'): I want to see a wave of positive change with the new government. We would like to see them support new ideas and technology. Additionally encourage young entrepreneurs and extend an equal opportunity to all without any gender biases.
Divyanka Tripathi (Ishita from 'Ye Hai Mohabbatein'): Child Labour is a dreadful reality that has plagued our nation. Children are the future and need to be nurtured and educated so that they can grow to be the leaders of tomorrow. Eradication of child labour is of utmost importance to the nation.
