Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan has been flooded with at least 60 representations either seeking or opposing clemency for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, an official said here Friday.
These representations have come from various individuals and organisations including politicians and celebrities across the country after the Supreme Court sentenced the actor to five years in jail for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.
Governor's secretary V.C. Rastogi has sent all the petitions to the additional chief secretary of the state home department.
Among prominent representations supporting the clemency for Sanjay Dutt were those made by former Supreme Court Justice M. Katju, former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Prada.
At least 25 individuals and organisations have opposed any leniency to the actor, who has expressed willingness to undergo the sentence.

This is just a way of getting money out of these celebs...the government is just trying to scare Sanjay dutt. This is crazy, sentencing him after 20 yrs. The government of India is very irresponsible from the beginning and mainly after the Delhi Gang Rape. Sanjay duty should be pardoned!!
I don't understand the Judicial system here. He's going to jail after 20 YEARS, for possessing an illegal weapon obtained from some Don who was responsible for the Mumbai attacks. Where is this Don? Or the people responsible for the mastermind of the attack?
If it were someone else, would they also get a jail sentence for possessing illegal weapons and then be released? There is no evidence to be found if Dutt had any involvement in the attacks itself. Why did it take the system 20 YEARS to reach to this sentence? The fans vs non fans have turned this into a war between having people punished regardless of their occupation. But one has to understand; why suddenly files have been opening to give sentences? Who will get the most publicity to "prove" that India does have a fair and proper judicial system? You can't believe everything the media or government say, as everything is all about politics.
As a citizen of India, I vote FOR sanjay's sentence. Actors are not gods and Sanjay SHOULD be punished for his crimes. All people should be equal in the eyes of law. HE SHOULD BE PUNISHED. Shame on those people who are flooding so called petitions to save a culprit. Why can't they imagine themselves being victims of his actions - would they still submit petitions? Shame on them.
Only politicians and film city people doesn't want him to pay for his crime and thats because they have their personal agenda, ask aam janta they will tell u that Sanjay deserves jail, and he deserves all the suffering that he could get. Don't waste time and source of the people who worked hard to get evidence against this criminal. It's not fair to regular people like us, who don't have millions of dollars to hide our crime
