New Delhi, March 14 (IANS) The day two of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2013 Autumn-Winter seemed to be a perfect mix and match of summer and winter collection. While some designers showcased bold and dark gothic or vintage collection, others preffered to keep it light and simple.
Delhi-based designer duo Hemant and Nandita took inspiration from the nature and made a splash on the ramp when they unveiled their creation at the event Thursday.
Body hugging, graphically printed sillhouettes comprising mostly one-piece short dresses and skirts truly represented class and style. Also, the right usage of garden colours like shades of green, yellow, orange, blue and purple highlighted the designers' love and closeness with nature.
"Last season, we had floral collection. We had used light weight easy flowing sillhouettes and played with bright shades. But this time we have tried to copy varied textures of woods and plants," said Hemant, known for the exotic prints and patterns.
"We started working on the collection around six months back. We visited various gardens across the city like Lodhi Garden, Buddha Garden, Hauz Khas Village etc. We clicked the pictures of trees and plants and then graphically or digitally printed the texture on the fabrics. We also played with the colours like purple and organge," he added.
The designer duo has mainly used heavy crepe fabric, which they had imported from China. They also made good use of cutwork and multi-coloured designer laces.
"If we talk about techniques, then we have just focused on the cutworks. It's something I feel will never go out of the trend," stressed Nandita.
"When you create fitted silhouettes, cutwork should be done very carefully otherwise it can ruin the dress. With loose flowing silhouettes, cutwork should be kept minimal," she said.
The price bracket for their collection starts from Rs.3,000 and goes ut po Rs.10,000.
The auditorium was literally packed with the buyers from across the world.
