Rahul Bose, who will be seen in Deepa Mehta's "Midnight's Children," says even though he has a small but significant role in the film, it cannot be called a landmark role in his career.
"If I had a big role in this film, then it would have been an important moment for my career but I have a small role in this film. But it's a very significant and beautiful role," the 45-year-old said here Tuesday at the press conference of the film.
"Moreover, this is my 20th year in the industry, so the time has gone that any role will make me identifiable or will break identity," he added.
Rahul recalls how long time back he was author Salman Rushdie's first choice for a mini series that was to be made on the book, which makes his association with the film all the more special.
"Yes, it's true. Fifteen years ago, when the mini series of 'Midnight's Children' was being made in five parts, out of 142 actors Salman (Rushdie) chose me. So, to be part of the close circle of the film, I consider it to be a great pleasure," Rahul said.
The film features an ensemble cast of Satya Bhabha, Shriya Saran, Siddharth, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Soha Ali Khan and Darsheel Safary and is slated to release this Friday.
