Punjabi rapper Honey Singh, who is under fire for the obscene lyrics of some of his songs, has spoken out against the uproar, saying his name has been unnecessary dragged into the controversy.
"All this going on right now. They just needed an excuse and they've found one. CONGRATULATION!" Singh tweeted.
"Before you blame me, blame the government for not taking action against the rapists in the first place! Don't use me as an excuse! #HoneySinghIsInnocent - trend if you're with me! I've admitted that my past was a wrong choice, but now I deliver completely different music," he added.
A FIR was filed against the Punjabi rapper here Monday for his alleged use of vulgar lyrics of his song "Main hun balatkaria" (I am a rapist).
The outrage also led to the cancellation of Singh's performance in Bristol Hotel, Gurgaon, where he was supposed to perform on New Year's Eve, following an active online petition.

This man is a sicko ! Get A life you moron !
Also i second you heart1 ! Everyone is to blamed -
Govt and Police for not doing their job of protecting women.
Politicians for giving stupid comments everyday and not understanding the real issue of women safety.
Parents for not telling their children to respect women !
Society for treating women like shit !
Public who didnt even cared to put some clothes on the nude girl and his friend who were lying on the road side struggling for their lives.
Bollywood for promoting vulgar item songs and showing women as a mere thing of pleasure.
Actresses for portraying women as an object !
People who like these type of vulgar songs and promote them.

The government is to be blamed
Yo Yo Honey Singh's vulgar lyrics are to be blamed
Bollywood's nude scenes and vulgar scenes are to be blamed
Lack of education is to be blamed
Lack of upbringing is to be blamed
But, when will the victim get justice? Or will we keep playing the blame game?
Lmao!! Our govt. Shud learn difference btwn rapers and rappers... :p
if he is blamed for dat song..den y our b-town 'item-galz' not blamed for der halkat-seconnd hand jawani?? O.o
Some of the people here need brain surgery. Morons, NOBODY is blaming him for the rape; but protesting against his filthy lyrics which de-humanzie women.
And YES brain-deads, singing something like "I AM BALATKARI" is GLORIFYING RAPE. Got it retards? Its an attempt to contain acceptance towards misogyny in popular culture.
Why would a rapper/man even bother with such a title in the first place?
rape is a disgusting act of inhumanity..so this guy is inhumane?
this is not freedom of speech but filth !!
what else do you expect from these types of artists!! backward mentality
He's a good artist at least from the collaborations he's done and his clean songs. But please Honey Singh refrain from such obscene lyrics. I like almost all your work that is appropriate. But this accusation is just ridiculous.
Oh Gosh why is he blamed. The government has lost it. I like/love some of his songs. But, some of his songs are filthy, but why did the censor board approve of the
songs in the first place.
Honestly, im pretty sure Honey Singh is mostly popular among punjabi youth. Why is he the only one getting blamed?
Bollywood has some dirty songs and filthy scenes. In my opinion, Bollywood movies influence others way more than Honey Singh
Bollywood movies should also be reported too then
H.S made a mistake and he said he did too
Also, the government should for once man up to their mistakes instead of blaming others. Pathetic
There is no point blaming the media since its approved by the Indian Govern.
Plus, western songs are filthy as well, i might even say, even more?
Seems like the government doesn't know the difference between a rapper and a raper

I am from the West and even in this 'sinful' part of the world as some may call it we won't dare to make a song called I am a rapist. How could lyrics like these be even tolerated. This reflects poorly on Indian music. Howver why should this 'artiste' be blamed for what is going on in this country?
