Actor R. Madhavan has been named person of the year by animal rights organisation People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for his contribution to spreading of vegetarianism.
The 42-year-old is being honoured for devoting time to various initiatives of the organisation, which opposes cruelty on animals.
The actor had recently sent a letter to the CEO of food chain KFC's parent company, Yum! Brands, urging the head honcho to adopt PETA's recommendations to stop animal abuse.
The actor had also lent his voice to a PETA video, which was based on Paul McCartney's statement that if slaughterhouses were made up of glass walls, no one would eat non-vegetarian food.
