Jodhaa Akbar

Jodhaa Akbar, the historic film by Ashutosh Gowarikar has broken all overseas records and achieved the status of being the 4th Biggest Opening Film in the World. The movie has generated a whopping $8.1m from 15 territories worldwide. In the UK, the movie opened at Number 10 in the charts, grossing £500,000 in the 1st week.

The best part of all this is that this is the first time that an Indian film has been reviewed so widely by mainstream press in US/UK. All the reviews have been extremely positive, except for the one that was put up in San Francisco Chronicle.

It is also said that a reporter from ABC News (TV), Boston went to a theatre last week to review a Hollywood film and was alarmed to see the long queue for Jodhaa Akbar. This has actually prompted the reporter to cover this historic film from India this weekend.

we went to a packed houseWe went to watch a movie in the theatre after a long time, and the queue was loooooooong! We had booked the tickets online, so we didn't have to wait, and it was packed. Being a long movie, when everyone went out to buy something during the interval, the queue again got long...hahahaha! I missed the first few minutes post inerval and hence missed most of the Manam Anga and Jalal scene........and guess what, that was two weeks back, and it is still running to packed houses in both the theatres, that too in the northern part of east coast...which is a very very rare for any Indian film in US.

Terrific movie ! We loved it!

im not surprised

UK Sky movies have covered the film as it 10 in the uk box office charts. Actually i think ppl are tired of the constant comedy that bollywood is producing and to see a historical film screenplayed so beautifully ...with the issue of 2 seperate faiths in the 16th century...an oscar nomiated Ashutosh Gowarikar has brought something new to bollywood and the world.
