Karan Johar's "Student of The Year" (SOTY) drew positive reviews for its three newcomers - Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra. Varun says he never ever dreamt of such a reception to his debut movie.
"(I am) very excited with the openings, honestly! I never imagined this kind of an opening even in my wildest dreams, never thought of this kind of a reception," the 24-year-old said here Friday while attending a screening of SOTY with the general public.
Accompanying him were his co-actor Siddharth Malhotra, and director, Johar.
Varun, son of filmmaker David Dhawan, has urged people to watch the film so that he can keep entertaining them in future.
"Please come and see the film. We have worked really hard, put in our blood, sweat, tears. Moreover, Karan has given a chance to newcomers like me. So, please support the film because I want to do more work for you and entertain you more," said Varun, whose acting as well as dancing skills have been appreciated by critics.

I like Sid more...But I like Varun as well..He is as great as Hrithik as far as dancing is concerned...All the best for future Varun :)<br/>The actress Alia cant act and doesnt have that star-like quality..No offence.

I watched the movie and loved it. I was hesitant to watch as all are new but it is a Karan Johar film! I am not sorry. Actually I could watch it again. A breath of fresh air after the usual batch of movies in the last few months.

Just saw the film... The story wasn't new... It was the same old collage types ka ghisa pita story line... Nothing special...
The actress wasn't super great... She looks pretty descent but the acting needs a lot of work...Infact, her role is not a great part of the film... She is just there to fill space and she's just there for the sake of having a female lead, otherwise she was all glamour and nothing else.. The males were both amazing... In fact, Varun and siddharth are the only reason to watch the film... But, Varun does get extra points for his super dancing skills... Felt bad for him because technically he gets nothing in the end... He loses even after he wins...
Everything was waaayyy tooo larger than life to a point where it was not relatable... There was literally only 2 staffs in the entire school... The sports teacher and the dean/ principle... Overall average, nothing extra ... It's definatly not as grand and amazing as the reviews suggest... The guys were the savior of the film... The songs were great but the story was sooo clich... Definatly not as good as KKHH , MNIS, and K3G... Ok film... U can go see it in theaters but I suggest you wait for the DVD or if you suggest going to the theaters, it's a one timer...

his acting and dancing were wow
but aalia seemed as a glamour touch only and she had no sensible role

seriously d movie has nothing in it except Varun .. Varun u r really good .. plz choose good movies .. u have all d potential .. honestly haven't noticed other new faces in ds film .. d girl is neither good looking nor a good actor, Sid is quite stiff n needs to improve a lot.. but u r definitely ready to dazzle Bolly .. all d best for ur future
