Southern filmmaker Prabhu Solomon's Tamil drama "Kumki", about a mahout and his trained elephant, is getting ready for a Diwali release.

Majorly shot in the forests of Kerala and Karnataka, "Kumki", produced by Lingusamy's Thiruppathi Brothers, will clash with Vijay's "Thuppaki" and Silambarasan's "Poda Podi" at the box office.

The release date was confirmed by music director of D. Imman when he tweeted: "'Kumki all set for Diwali! I'm sure the orchestral BG score will excite you."

Starring debutant Vikram Prabhu, "Kumki" is the story of a mahout who guides wild elephants back to the forest to minimise destruction of villagers' properties and fields in the area he lives in.

"The post-production work is in progress and the film is getting ready for a Diwali release," a source told IANS.
