"The title of a film is the closest interpretation of the story. If Steven Soderbergh can keep abstract name like 'Sex Lies and Video Tapes', Dibanker Banerjee as 'Love Sex Aur Dhoka' or Manoj Kumar as 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan' then why not 'Kismet Love Paisa Dilli," said director Sanjay Khanduri.
"The thought that went into this title is actually inspired from 'Roti Kapada Aur Makaan' - the three needs of a man, which in modern day has changed to Kismet, Love and Paisa (money)," he added.
Earlier, the film was supposed to be titled 'Gyaara Chaalis Ki Last Metro', but it was later changed.
"The distributors felt a little differently about the title and said the title should be more impactful," said Khanduri.
"Keeping their opinion in mind we looked at what we had in the film with us. We realised that the film is about destiny, it talks about money and love in Delhi. So 'Kismet Love Paisa Dilli' fell in place. And the strong connect to the three needs of today's time in a youth's life!" he added.
The film releases Friday.
