Actor-director Satish Kaushik has bought the rights of Tamil film "Pithamagan" and plans to rope in Salman Khan, who worked in his 2003 hit movie "Tere Naam", for the project.
"Sometimes destiny has its own way. I have a nice script for Salman Khan which is much bigger than 'Tere Naam'. I have bought the rights of Tamil film 'Pithamagan', which featured national award winning actor Vikram who had also done Tamil version of 'Tere Naam'," Kaushik told IANS.
"Tere Naam" was the Hindi version of director Bala's hit Tamil film "Sethu", a tragic romantic tale that came in 1999. Released in 2003, "Pithamagan" was also directed by Bala and the cast also included Surya.
"I have developed the script and I will soon narrate the script to Salman Khan. He is perfect for the character," said Kaushik.

I am a salman fan but i am very sure nobody in bollywood can do the role of vikram!
Even finding cast for surya ,laila and sangeetha's role is next to impossible...
The movie is one of the best movies of bala with perfect balance of story ,comedy and action...
Those who are going to bash me... please go watch the movie once and then decide if salman can really do the role( unless the script is changed)...
Also for those who are praising 'Tere Naam' -- it wasn't even close to 10% of the original...

Pithamagan is one of the best films in the history of tamil cinema which showcased two of the best actors talents - Vikram and Surya..!! It would be better a remake of such an epic movie is not made.. Because its one in a million!! And salman should restrain himself from doing it as he will get criticized by getting compared with Vikrams acting. Tere Naam was a different type as the character was a little natural one. The central character in pithamagan is something where the hero doesnt talk throughout the film. Everything is conveyed through expressions. I personally dont want to see a great movie perceived wrongly..!! Something like that happened with 'Kyunki' i dont want to get that repeated!! :(

would love to watch salman again n that too in a satish kaushik film ... Tere naam is one the best movies ever ... The only film that made me cry ...
A south remake ... Hope its not an out n out action film ... Love watching salman doing action, but he has already done so many ... I want him in a romantic film now ... Or something like tere naam.

all the best 2 salman! lets hpe it works out...nt seen the original so cnt comment on it...bt i do hpe he manages to do 110% justice 2 the role if he does do it.
