Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday wondered what was the "big deal" about the detention of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan as it "happens all the time".
"Honestly what's the big deal?? This airport detention thing happens all the time & to all sorts of people. Get over it," Abdullah tweeted.
Shah Rukh Khan, who has millions of fans in India and around the world, was detained at New York's White Plains airport for two hours Thursday as he arrived to visit Yale University, where he was honoured as a Chubb Fellow.
Shah Rukh, detained by the immigration authorities, was allowed to go only after his hosts intervened and took up the issue with the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, according to sources.
India took up the matter with the US authorities and made it clear to Washington that "a policy of detention and apology" cannot continue.

<br/>n for those living under a rock, Shahrukh DID NOT complain, people n the govt are! <br/>d'uh, nobbers commenting without even knowing the truth.
Law is same for every1, it is only in India that rich powerful people are above it. It is 'coz of the tight security that no one has been able to bomb US, while India keeps suffering terrorism n feeding terrorists in the jails!

Omar Abdullah needs to get ego out of his head. Its not alright if it is happening for the 2nd or 3rd time. India needs to take a strong stand.

Just to make one thing clear---SRK hasn't complained about it at all. It's the fans and the indian gov't who for some reason feel the need to stretch this occurrence which by the way was totally justified since laws are laws and everyone has to follow them. SRK just laughed it off and that's why I love him even more :D

Hai hai !! I get stopped every time I go to America ...last time they didn't stop me and I literary asked the guy " are you sure I can go from here " !!!! It happened 5 times out of 6 visits I made ...having a European passport didnt help ... We all know why it happens ... The worst part is the on lookers stares you as if YOU ARE CONVICTED !!! SRK should change his name ... From Mr. khan to Mr. Ken !

Totally agree... What do they expect? SRK will have. Different channel of immigration? Gosh just get over with it... And he needs to be prepared that this can happen again not cos he is SRK but cos he is just a regular visitor like any other human who needs to go thru this security...

@srkfan4ever : U NEED TO GROW UP..srk could be the most famous person on this earth but he is not God and the rules are for everybody...i am sure like shahrukh many celebs are detained too...but why they are never reported...becoz shahrukh uses his cheap PR to know people abt this...
