Yesteryears Bollywood star Joy Mukherjee was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital here in a critical condition Monday and has been put on ventilator, his spokesperson said.
"He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at around 10:30 a.m. He has not been keeping well for quite some time," the 73-year-old's spokesperson, R.R.Pathak, said.
"His wife Neelam Mukherjee too distraught at the moment," he added.
Mukherjee, who made his cinematic debut in 1960 with "Love In Simla", became a known face with films like "Shagird", "Love in Tokyo", "Bahu Beti", "Ziddi", "Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon", "Ek Musafir Ek Hasina", "Puraskar", "Ishaara" and "Hum Hindustani".
The paternal uncle of actors Kajol and Tanisha, Mukherjee also directed movies like "Love in Bombay" (1974), "Chhaila Babu" (1977), "Saanjh Ki Bela" (1981) and "Umeed" (1989).

Don't know what to say coz its difficult to accept bitter truth. Joy mukherji is one name which is special coz he is one of my fav actors whom I always admired since I was a teenager n wanted to meet him but...hope I do meet him sum day. He was so charming n gud looking,still luv to watch his movies. GWS...:)
Get well soon Mr. Mukherjee, when I was in highschool the movie I watched of his was Love in Shimla. I fell in love with his acting, and his comedian facial expression. I loved him in Shagird, Ziddi, Love in Shimla, and Phir Woh Dil Laya Hoon!!! Love his song Woh Hai Zara Kafa Kafa ho ho...
Loved his movie 'Shagird'.
When he was young he looked so handsome. Really old age spares no one. Some of the songs of his movies are great!
