New Delhi, Nov 16 Bollywood star Abhishek thanked his friends and fans for their best wishes on the birth of his first child Wednesday. He says the mother, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and the baby girl are doing fine and resting.
'Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest,' Abhishek posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Aishwarya gave birth to her first child Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Mumbai. Congratulatory messages for the parents, and grandparents - Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, poured in soon after Abhishek Bachchan announced 'IT'S A GIRL!!!!!! :-)))))' on micro-blogging Twitter.
Ash was admitted to the hospital Monday night for delivery, and Abhishek Bachchan has been by her side all the time.
He is so excited that he is unable to sleep.
'And I'm trying my level best to get rid of this caffeine high and get some sleep too. Don't think it'll work. TOO EXCITED!!!!' added the proud father, who always wished to have a daughter.

Awww congrats to the happy couple and the rest of the Bachchan family! I'm so glad they had a little girl and put to rest all those rumours about changing the sex of the child. The Indian media really and truly sucks.

This is really exciting news for the entire family and I heartily want to congratulate both families. It is every married couple's dream to become parents. I may be no Aishwarya fan, but when it comes to something as personal as this I have the utmost respect for her & Abhishek. And I even went to the extent to write a small congratulatory message to the family on my Rani M. FB fan page. :) I really am happy for Abhishek, Aishwarya, Jaya ji, Amit ji, & the entire Rai and extended Bachchan family.
I really hope that the media gives the baby and the family some space. They have gone crazy prior to Aish's delivery. The baby is too small and fragile and needs not to be exposed to such craving media. I hope that they understand and give them some space.
Why are people predicting what the she will become ages from now? Aish is her own person and the baby is her own person. It sucks to have comparisons drawn, but we all know that is exactly what is going to happen. And just because the baby's parents and grandparents are from the film industry, not not by any means mean that the baby too has to become an actress. In fact it would be interesting to see if she becomes something other than an actress.
I also want to say Aishwarya isn't the only famous mother out there. So many bollywood actresses are mothers of kids and yet have not been covered so extensively by the media like Aish has. (By no means am I blaming Aish for this). Again I hope the media realizes that the family needs some private space.
All babies are cute and adorable whether the baby is Aishwarya's or someone else's. So its unfair to claim that only her baby is going to be pretty etc etc (not that I'm saying anyone has said that). Just saying.
I won't lie, I also want to see a picture of the baby. BUT I really hope that Amit ji and Abhishek DO NOT post a picture of her because it will spread like a virus all over the net and there goes t...
