Mumbai, Dec 9 (IANS) Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has got a passionate love interest - his saxophone. And there is nothing the star of 'D' loves better than spending hours with his 'baby'.

'Sometimes I can't get two notes right on it, sometimes I play it like a dream...that's my baby. I'm talking about my saxophone. If I'm passionate about anything in life apart from acting, it's my sax,' Randeep told IANS.

'Why? Because it's a goddamned good-looking instrument. I remember as a child I had seen a Bombay Dyeing ad where a guy played the sax. I found the image very appealing. I started playing it in January 2006. And now I'd like to believe I play it as well as Charlie Parker. I had seen a film on the life of Charlie Parker - Clint Eastwood's 'The Bird', where Parker was shown playing jazz music on the sax, just playing around with the notes.

'I love jazz. I like that improvised feeling to my music. People play music. I like to play with music... You know what I mean? Let me take you back to when I started playing the sax.

'I was in the US passing through San Francisco when I saw this Black American guy called Roul playing the sax on the street. I told him I wanted to play the instrument and where I could get one. Roul accompanied me to Oakland and helped me choose this sleek Selmar sax - the best in the world.

'Today the sax is one of my best friends. I can spend hours on my sax. But it's very tiring. It uses a part of your mouth muscles that get easily strained. As far as my lungs are concerned I'm okay blowing into my sax indefinitely. I don't have much of a musical sense. But I can feel my way around the seven notes and find a harmonious area.

'I don't want to comment on how well I play the sax. But people are shocked by my performance. When I've guests over I slink into the kitchen and there I play these Minus-1 CDS (where all the instruments except the main one are featured). And I quietly start playing my sax along with the CD. Guests have told me they can't tell the difference.

'They feel my sax is part of the recorded music. Cool no? Right now I'm down with a severe viral flu. But guess what's the first thing I'll do when I regain some energy?'
