Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Aditya Chopra, starring the dynamic duo of Shahid Kapoor & Rani Mukherjee, Dil Bole Hadippa has won the "Readers' Choice Award for Best Film of 2009" presented by Ishq - Germany's biggest Bollywood magazine.

Dil Bole Hadippa successfully released worldwide on September 18, 2009. The movie is a celebration of the never say die spirit of India. In a village where girls don't play cricket, Veera (Rani Mukherjee) has to put on a turban and beard and become a man to fulfill her dreams. Her brilliance on the field earns her a place in Rohan's (Shahid Kapoor) team and Veera Kaur becomes Veer Pratap Singh and what follows is a hide and seek game of romance, passion and dreams.

The winning film was screened at the "Bollywood & Beyond" Festival in Stuttgart and drew large crowds to the cinema in the early morning that came to celebrate their favorite film Dil Bole Hadippa. The screen entrances of both Shahid Kapoor & Rani Mukherjee were met with loud cheers and thunderous applause.

This accolade proves yet again that the appeal of Dil Bole Hadippa knows no border and no language barrier. The film has truly captured the hearts and minds of audiences the world over! German fans especially found the film had many of the elements they loved about Hindi cinema: the colourful songs, the fun and laughter, the positive message of female empowerment which is put across "with lots of sugar" plus the dazzling star combo of Shahid Kapoor & Rani Mukherjee.

Other noted films nominated in the "Readers' Choice Award for Best Film of 2009" included Billu Barber, Luck by Chance, Love Aaj Kal and Wake up Sid. Ishq magazine has a circulation of 30,000 copies in the German speaking countries (Germany, Austria and witzerland). Most of its readers are not NRIs but German speakers with a strong passion and love for Hindi Cinema.

I am so glad for the film and the lead actors. Shahid-Rani's chemistry was the highlight of the film, yet it was bashed by smart-alecs who hadn't even watched the film.
Wake Up Sid was a deserving movie, but Love Aaj Kal was AWFUL! Imtiaz Ali sure hit rock bottom with that one.
