Mumbai, Nov 1 (IANS) This one could be straight from the newspaper headlines. In February this year, a 13-year-old girl got pregnant in Italy but she was asked to abort her baby by the courts. The girl refused.

The sensational headline bringing into global focus the whole question of teen pregnancy is now the theme of Satish Kaushik's ready-to-release 'Tere Sang'.

In 'Tere Sang', the 17-year-old hero, played by Ruslaan Mumtaaz, gets his 15-year-old girlfriend (Sheena Shahabadi) pregnant. The girl refuses to abort the baby.

'In 'Tere Sang' we've gone into teen pregnancy. Nowadays pre-marital sex doesn't depend on the age of consent. We can't sweep promiscuity among young teenagers under the carpet. It'll only aggravate the problem,' Kaushik told IANS.

Was it difficult to shoot lovemaking scenes with actors so young?

Kaushik smiled in embarrassment and said: 'Fortunately, my main lead weren't really 17 and 15. And really, today's kids don't need to grow up before knowing about the birds and the bees.'

Ruslaan, who debuted with the teen film 'Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar' (MP3), says he didn't face problems with the scenes.

'I realise it's a very sensitive subject. But about time we came out with it. Fortunately, I'm far older than the character I play, so I understood the situation maturely,' said Ruslaan.

'If my girlfriend got pregnant at 15, I'd definitely want her to abort the baby. But if she decides to keep the baby, I'd support her. I'm bracing myself to answer all the controversial questions when the film releases,' he added.

While Ruslaan is the son of yesteryear character actress Anjana Mumtaz, Sheena is Sadhana Singh's daughter.
