There is no religion of terrorism,' said Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan here Sunday evening at a public event a year after the Mumbai terror attacks.
'Indian civilisation does not distinguish in terms of religion. We are an impossible achievement in the world and I'm very proud to be an Indian,' he added, speaking at public event held at the sprawling lawns of the India Gate to show the nation's solidarity against terrorism.
'No one can have two viewpoints about terrorism. There is no religion of terrorism. I am often asked my viewpoint on this, maybe because I am a Muslim and I am very proud to be a Muslim,' said Shah Rukh.
'But I have read the Quran, listened to the Gita, acted in Ram Leela... and learnt Christianity besides being a Muslim... My friends and I have worked on a film on Buddha ('Asoka') and my wife is a Punjabi,' the super star stressed.
Shah Rukh joined a number of celebrities, eminent personalities from the worlds of arts and literature, and political leaders and school children to mark 'A Nation In Solidarity Against Terror' event organised under the aegis of the ministry of home affairs (MHA).
Also present at the event were Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, lyricist Javed Akhtar, journalist Shekhar Gupta, shooter Abhinav Bindra and tennis player Sania Mirza to name a few.
Singers Shreya Ghosal, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shankar Mahadevan and violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam also performed at the event.
With a message 'Terror has no religion. Our solidarity, courage and resoluteness are the answer to the threat of terror', it was hosted by actress-activist Nandita Das and directed by one-film old Feroz Abbas Khan.
Produced and managed by Wizcraft International Entertainment, the event was held a year after the final day when the siege in Mumbai last year ended (Nov 29, 2008).
It was supported by organisations including ONGC, Airtel, SAIL, State Bank of India, Apollo Tyres, Mahindra, Amity University, Reliance Industries, Reliance ADAG, GAIL, Aircel and Jet Airways.

Popular Search Terms: terrorism has no religion speech
Caroash, I saw that incident on national TV but I did not sewe of making big fuss but I thingk, US customs were little too hard on some people expecially our color. I live in Canada too and I do get hard time, sometimes and other times, I go through customs with green chit. That is normal with any customs authority. Big B says," Every time, I come to Canada, his luggage was missing.: It is normal to get frustrated for any celeberity as they come on a tight schedule and if their clothes are missing, they cannot do the show.
We are not talking about this thing. You started that they got paid for 26/11 anniversary campaign, which they did not and they do many other fund raisings and awareness shows, which they do it free.
We have to respect humanity no matter who the person is. I don't have any personal enemity towards Salman or Amir but they don't have respect for a woman. Salman gave hell of a hard time to Ash, thats why he is not my favorite but I know he has his own charity too where he donated lots of money. Amit left his wife from many years for another woman. His first wife even changed her religion for him and he dumped her for Kiran.
to NKSUDHIR---Very well said...Salman khan did good deeds too.I am not gonna either change my view towards bollywood actors. Some of them are very well deserve. I remember recently srk got stop at U.S.A airport and after that he created such a big fuss which was not required. He said I stop because I am muslim. ok maybe they stop him because he is muslim. which wrong I agree that U.S.A should not stop each and every muslim. Checking is being tight since 9/11 happ. I live in canada. when I cross border of canada to go U.S.A they check my car and everything. They check everyone car. Sometime they do ask que. if they suspect something. It does not mean they blame you. If you are not wrong than you should be calm. srk id bollywood king so it does not mean he going to treat as a king. They did check A.P.J abdul kalam and I think he is bigger than srk. he did not create such a fuss. some people just wanna suppprt srk because they like or love him. U.S.A security did not check amir khan or salman khan or saif ali khan. If they even check,it never come out with big fuss. Maybe they check srk for some other purpose but he said they check me just because I am khan. I feel everytime you should listen two people, not only beliving on one person. that's why I think actors does not mean every time whatever they said. I would rather listen solider speech who fight on border for their country.
I will not change ny views towards Big B, SRK, Ajay Devgan, Shahid Kapoor and senior actors who get paid for their hard work.
I don't support Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan or Shini Ahuja for their bad deeds and I will never support in future either.
I am talking about all good stars are like normal Indian Citizens who make money from acting but they do support many charities and seniors homes and hospitals.
Person like me, may be able to take out ony 50-100 dollars a month for a good cause but there are good and rich human beings, who pay millions of dollars to these chairites. Angelina Jollie is adopting another child from Africa.
We should learn to give credit to humanity otherwise there is no difference between good and bad.

@NKSUDHIR...Ya right They are working hard for preparing speech. There is few genuine people in india. If they give speech, they would mean that. Can you please tell me what they pay for good cause??? They do cause because they want publicity and love of people. They have house in U.S.A. Most of the time they stay out of india. This actors do crime. Ex. sanjay dutt, salman khan etc. why don't you read by yourself. No offence..You not gonna change your view as I am. I respect your view. but just think once.
@ simran1285 Don't say sorry to Pinklady09, she's borderline terrorist
@ simran1285
I agree with him on this, it's sad that the terrorists are using a religion and the name of god to justify their atrocities.
@Pinklady09- not to mean any offense but I don't think reading the namaz/quran makes a person a good muslim, if that was the case then all terrorists are "good" muslims. In my opinion (though it's not asked) I believe when we die god will look at the person we were not how many times we prayed. God has no religion hence he will not look at how good of a hindu or muslim we were; he will look at how good of a human we were. Sorry if this offended you.
@ simran1285 Don't say sorry to Pinklady09, she's borderline terrorist herself who does not understand what Islam stands for....
thts tru..terrorism has no religion, no religion preaches terrorism...every religion preaches honesty and peace...not killing innocent people for no reason

most of the actors who do the shows for some charity usually do it for free and they charge for other shows which are just for entertainment which is very natural and they deserve to earn some money when they are at top.. as everyone works for money but as far as charity goes I am sure they do not charge.. the main point is to bring awareness which they do bring it whether we call it for name or anything else but it helps the society which matters most !!!!
