Mrs. Successes of B-Town!

Marriage is considered to open up new avenues of joy, happiness and success in one's life, but in Bollywood, that was clearly not the case. Not long ago, marriage was considered a deterrent to the continued success of a glamorous career of a diva in B-Town. When there was a tug of war between ideals and modernistic thoughts, well, modernistic thoughts clearly took a flying leap out of the window. But can one say today is the same case? Definitely, not! With the 'advancement' in the thinking of people, the change in mentality, right and wrong is only a matter of perception for many. Things that were frowned upon earlier are now considered a sign of progress. And with the progress in the thinking of people, there has also been a progress in the trend that we see in Bollywood. We no longer have actresses getting married and disappearing in the midst of layers of responsibility of family and relationships. B-Town now is full of ladies who've clearly set a trend and continued on the path to success even after marriage while balancing the responsibility of their newly forged relationships.

BollyCurry brings to you some of these ladies who've perfected the art of juggling multiple roles of actress, daughter-in-law, wife, mother, et al.

Sridevi Kapoor: An actress in her own league, Sridevi had almost disappeared from Bollywood post her marriage to Boney Kapoor in the late nineties, her last big release being Judaai in 1997. An effort to make a striking comeback with Meri Biwi ka Jawaab Nahi in 2004 failed miserably, however, her fans did see her on the silver screen with Malini Iyer which, yet again, did little to sparkle or dazzle the audience. But undeterred by failures, she kept coming and made a rocking comeback last year with English Vinglish at the age of 49. And now that she is back, rumors are rife of a sequel to Mr. India with Sridevi in the lead, yet again. Buzz in the town also reports that Kamaal Khan is working on a script wherein he clearly desires to Sridevi.

Kajol Devgn: This evergreen lady has managed to shock her fans on and off throughout her career. Ever since debuting with Bekhudi in 1992, she went on to dazzle her fans with memorable hits like Baazigar (1993), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), and at the height of her career, she decided to take a break to marry beau, Ajay Devgn. She took breaks twice post marriage owing to childbirths, but nothing could faze her charm. She was also the brand ambassador for OLAY for some years and now is also seen in the Nestle Maggi ads. Kajol has multiple projects lined up; some where she will only be lending her beautiful voice while others where her fans will be lucky enough to see her person.

Vidya Balan Kapur: Ever since her debut in Bollywood in 2005 with Parineeta, Vidya has carved a niche for herself in the industry. The image and perception that she has in the minds of the people is not that of the typical romantic. With every project, she has managed to do something different. Be it Bhool bhulaiyya (2007), Paa (2009), Ishqiya (2010), No One Killed Jessica (2011), The Dirty Picture (2011) or Kahaani (2012)she has managed to mesmerize the audience each time so much so that her marriage would make little difference. Her marriage to Siddharth Roy Kapur has been a somewhat hushed affair and we know that Vidya is already back with a number of interesting projects lined up for the coming year.

Kareena Kapoor Khan: She's the darling of Bollywood and forms a part of the elite of Bollywood. She started her career on a serious role in Refugee (2000), but since then, there's little seriousness that we've seen her essay in any of her movies. Flirty, light and fun is what suits Kareena best and that is what she's ensured her audience gets to see and her movies Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Jab We Met (2007), 3 Idiots (2009) and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) can clearly vouch for that. After her marriage to Saif Ali Khan in October, the audience saw her return swiftly to the screen with her thumkas in "Fevicol Se" for Dabanng 2. She shall soon be seen in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, followed by Satyagraha and then will soon start shooting for Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor's yet-untitled co-production. All we can say is marriage has made little difference to her career.

Sonali Bendre Behl: After her marriage in 2002, Sonali was only seen in a supporting role in Kal Ho Naa Ho and the Nirma ads. But soon as she decided to return to the world of glitz and glamour, she made an effortless return with the silver screen opting for reality shows like India's Got Talent, Indian Idol, Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz and now India's Best Dramebaaz which have all helped her claim fame that was clearly not known to her career earlier. While currently judging India's Best Dramebaaz, she also has a cameo lined up in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra: Marriage to Raj Kundra has done Shilpa Shetty a lot of good and her fans are lucky to see more of her now. Last seen in an item number for Dostana in 2008, Shilpa, after giving birth to her baby, returned to dazzle her fans with her dancing skills as a judge on Nach Baliye 5. Her next big venture is The Desire, an Indo-Chinese project which her fans are eagerly awaiting. Also lined up is Dishkiyaaon, where Shilpa will be seen playing producer for the Harman Baweja starrer.
