Pani da rang vekh ke...

We may not know about the colour of water but the multi-coloured flashing lights of a certain celebrity's rapid rise to fame is definitely grabbing our attention. Thus, BollyCurry brings you Ayushmann Khurrana as this week's Celebrity in the Spotlight!

Khurrana was born in Chandigarh and went on to study at St. John's High School and DAV College. He majored in
English Literature and completed his Masters in Mass Communication from Punjab University. It was this introduction to literature that heavily influenced Khurrana and fueled his passion to take writing as a hobby. He currently maintains a blog where he scribes in Hindi and has achieved a well based fan of admirers as well.

Khurrana started his career in telly as the winner of MTV Roadies Season 2. On completion of his studies, his first job was that of a Radio Jockey at BIG FM in Delhi. He also hosted the show Big Chai - Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann which subsequently won him the Young Achievers Award in 2007.

Khurrana continued his TV career with many shows including Pepsi MTV Wassup, The Voice of Youngistaan, MTV Fully Faltoo Movies, India's Got Talent, Music Ka Maha Muqqabla, Extra Innings T20 for Indian Premier League Season 3 and more recently Just Dance

Khurrana made his Bollywood debut in April 2012 in Shoojit Sircar's romantic comedy Vicky Donor, a movie which touched on the topic of sperm donation. In the film, the lad plays the role of Vicky Arora, a Punjabi boy who marries a Bengali girl but hides his past of being a sperm donor from her. Upon release, the film was declared a critical and commercial hit, leading to him receiving rave reviews for his performance and catapulting him to success. Critics noted Khurrana as a complete natural on the screen, stating that he had the ability to become a fine actor and applauded him for taking a risk with his debut by showcasing a taboo topic. The film also won Khurrana a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and Best Male Playback Singer for "Pani Da Rang". However, the success of the film did not lead to Khurrana quitting television completely and was further seen anchoring the IIFA Awards 2012, People's Choice Awards India 2012, and the Screen Awards 2013.

If not that's enough, Khurrana will be seen in several new movies this year. First up is Rohan Sippy's Nautanki Saala, co-starring Kunal Roy Kapoor, Evelyn Sharma, and Pooja Salvi. Khurrana will also reunite with his team from Vicky Donor for the movie Hamara Bajaj, a movie in which he will play the role of a struggling actor. He has also been cast in YRF's next untitled project where he will star opposite Sonam Kapoor and will be directed by Nupur Asthana. Both movies are projected to be released later on this year.
